Lady Captain 2020/2021

My name is Elaine Wright I became a member of Sitwell Park in 1980 and had the honour to be lady captain in 1996 it is a position I never expected to be holding for a second time.

We are a small but friendly ladies section our competition day is Wednesday.

During the summer months we hold 18 hole medals/stablefords some include cup competitions.

In the winter months we hold 12 hole stablefords and once a month an organised fun competition.

When necessary we will organise a Sunday qualifier for working ladies.

Most ladies also play friendly games Monday& Friday.

My chosen charity is Sunbeams at The Rotherham Hospice.

This is a little known charity that offers support to children of school age who are experiencing the serious illness or loss of a loved one.

about us

We try to cater for all abilities and types of golfer – whether you just want exercise, fun, and social interaction or a serious, competitive game of golf.

During the winter months, we tend to offer a variety of relaxed individual or team competitions usually played over 12 holes.

In the Summer we play qualifying competitions (to attain a handicap). These are played individually and sometimes for prizes or cups. We also enter in teams of 4 to play in Open Days at other clubs. Sheffield and District also run competitions at very reasonable prices which are entered in pairs or teams of 4.

Our course lends itself to playing 12 or 18 holes and a handicap can now be obtained by playing either.

Under normal conditions, we play golf and then gather in the Club House for refreshments, social catch-ups, occasionally even a meal. Sometimes there will follow a prize presentation.

We are looking to start a mixed section and run mixed competitions on a regular basis.

Most importantly we aim for friendship and fun.
