Standards and Etiquette

Whilst it is agreed that we must move forward with the times, there are certain standards that must be adhered to as expected of a well renowned and respected golf club.

Dress codes

Golf Course dress code.

  • Tailored trousers or tailored shorts/skirts/skorts, no cargo/combat style.
  • Socks must be worn; trainer socks are acceptable with shorts/skirts/skorts.
  • Traditional golf polo shirts may be worn along with collarless shirts designed specifically for golf these must be tucked into trousers/shorts/skorts. NB. If ladies shirts are designed to be worn outside of their skirt/skort/trousers, then only in this instance is it acceptable. 
  • Golf hoodies can be worn on the course, provided it is a reputable golf manufacturer. Hoods are NOT to be worn up at any time.
  • Golf shoes (shoes or golf trainers) must be worn on the course (please change into your golf shoes in the locker room and not the car park).
  • Caps if worn, should be with the peak facing forward.

The following items of clothing are not acceptable on the course.

  • Denim wear.
  • Tracksuits, jogging suits, and variants of these.
  • Collarless tee-shirts or jumpers without a shirt underneath.
  • Training shoes.
  • Clothing from other sports, e.g., football/rugby shirts.

Clubhouse dress code.

  • Smart casual dress is the minimal standard within the clubhouse.
  • Smart jeans are permitted.
  • Non-golfing sportswear, tracksuits, vests, and flip flops are not permitted. Sliders with socks are deemed acceptable.
  • Caps are not permitted in the clubhouse but are allowed on the balcony.
  • Footwear worn on the course must be changed prior to entering the Clubhouse.

FAILURE TO DRESS APPROPRIATELY MAY RESULT IN A MEMBER OR VISITOR BEING REQUESTED TO LEAVE THE COURSE OR CLUBHOUSE.

Behaviour and Etiquette standards

Foul and abusive language or aggressive behaviour towards staff, other members or guests will not be tolerated either on the course or in the clubhouse. Anyone failing to adhere to these standards will result in a disciplinary hearing and maybe have their membership suspended.

Course Etiquette.

This is our golf course please take care of it for the enjoyment of yourself and others.

  • Repair Pitch Marks
  • Replace divots.
  • Rake bunkers

Green staff always have the priority on the course. Any member or visitor hitting balls whilst the greens staff are present on the same hole either driving machinery or on foot will be reported to the course committee.

Pace of Play

Rule changes have been made to make the game of golf quicker.

  • Play ready golf (shorter hitters play first from the tee or fairway if longer hitters have to wait)
  • The time allowed for searching for a ball is a maximum of 3 minutes.

Please play a provisional ball if you are unsure that your original ball is in play.

Please be aware of your standing on the course keep up with the group in front not in front of the group behind.

If you fall behind, please ensure that you let the group behind through.
