welcome ladies to SITWELL PARK GOLF CLUB
We try to cater for all abilities and types of golfer – whether you just want exercise, fun, and social interaction or a serious, competitive game of golf.
During the winter months, we tend to offer a variety of relaxed individual or team competitions usually played over 12 holes.
In the Summer we play qualifying competitions (to attain a handicap). These are played individually and sometimes for prizes or cups. We also enter in teams of 4 to play in Open Days at other clubs. Sheffield and District also run competitions at very reasonable prices which are entered in pairs or teams of 4.
Our course lends itself to playing 12 or 18 holes and a handicap can now be obtained by playing either.
Under normal conditions, we play golf and then gather in the Club House for refreshments, social catch-ups, occasionally even a meal. Sometimes there will follow a prize presentation.
We are looking to start a mixed section and run mixed competitions on a regular basis.
Most importantly we aim for friendship and fun.
LADY CAPTAIN 2026
My name is Margaret Cartlidge, and I am the current Lady Captain of Sitwell Park Golf Club. I thoroughly enjoy playing golf with both the gentlemen’s and ladies sections, at this superb, well-maintained and friendly course.
Golf became part of my life in 1977 when my husband introduced me to the game. Before then, I was an active competitor in the Rotherham and Sheffield squash and badminton leagues. Born and raised in Rotherham, I also ran a mobile hairdressing business in the Kimberworth and Broom areas for many years. My greatest sporting achievement was reaching a handicap of 11, a milestone of which I remain particularly proud.
My chosen charity for this year is Parkinson’s UK, a cause that is very close to my heart.
As for the Ladies Section, we are a small but very friendly and welcoming section and we are actively looking to encourage new members, be that complete novices or ladies who already play, to come and join us. Golf is really good exercise, great for your mental health and making new friends. We play our competitions on a Wednesday but also play Mondays and Fridays. We hold lots of fun competitions throughout the year, including mixed comps with some of our friendly and funny male members.
If anyone is interested in finding out more, we ladies meet for lunch every Wednesday from about 12:30pm at the club and anyone is more than welcome to come and meet us. We will endeavour to answer any questions you may have. So, if you are looking to take up a new hobby for the new year and would like to find out more about membership fees, competitions, and events we have planned we would be more than happy to see you.
